El Burgo Ranero

Hi
Just another quick note because things have been a little boring. I am walking in land that looks like Nebraska. And like Nebraska it will last for another day. I will be in Leon the night after next and I hear that from then on it is beautiful again. I have been walking alone, even telling people that I prefer to walk alone and that I.ll see them at lunch or dinner. I had dinner and breakfast with two really fun German women. There are 6 single women that I keep running into. There are so many single women on the Camino now. It is very much fun. Today I took a break at a picnic table and before I had finished my lunch, six people were eating together' an Italian, 2 Germans, 2 Belgians, a French woman and me. And God love them, they all speak English.
I guess I wasn't clear about Dominique. He left with a handshake one morning. He was as irritated with me as I was with him and so I told him if he was so annoyed he should just go. I am so relieved to not have to have him hovering over me. I was really clear that I appreciated all that he did for me, so we parted cooly but politely. I saw him once and he told me how far he walked and where to eat. brother.
They great thing about yesterday was the morning. Sunrise with storks flying just overhead. They look just like the drawings but without the babies.
That's all until I am in awe again. I love you all.

It's 10/1 here and Troy is 10 years old today. He says he doesn't feel 10, though. He doesn't get a cake-not with diabetis! We were at Pathfinder and spent the whole weekend scrubbing and cleaning before the water was turned off. It was a nasty weekend up there, so it was a good time to clean. I thought of you so often. You sure seem to have pushed through your troubles or any dilemmas you were sorting through. Now you seem to be 'speeding along' on your way. You're even talking faster-if that's possible. Going it alone actually allows you to decide your own speed, sometimes faster and other times more slowly & more thoughtful (I've noticed that on my MS walks and rides.) Are you or have you taken any time to sketch? I'll be back at you soon. I'm pulling for you, girl! Ginny

Hi, Mary,
One thing about the mountains that ou can always depend on--- is the "Nebraska" side-- the dry side after all the rain dumps in the mountains. Kind of like life, I guess. The thing is to learn to see the beauty in the dryness too. Enough philosophizing--- Wow! You really are having a journey. It must feel kind of like chapters.

You are doing great. It's so wonderful to hear your stories. Can't wait to see you after all of this.

Lots of Love,
Maggie Rose

Hi Mary,
So you ONLY have from Minneapolis to Fargo left on your journey. Actually by the time you read this you'll probably have only St. Cloud to Fargo left.
I am getting excited about you coming home, and especially about seeing the Roller Girls, its on my calendar!
I forgot your email address. I will call Alison and get it and write more to you today. I await your descriptions of the upcoming landscapes. May the wind be at your back!
Love,
Barb

It's me again. Thankfully it's Tuesday now (10/2) and the school board candidate forum is over! What a relief. There were a few glitches within my committee, but we got through it. Now I just have the mayoral/council forum on 10/8. Anyway, the days are so damp and penetrating lately-I hope you're keeping warm. And it's not very cheery. Are you singing as you go, keeping up that voice investment? The biggest news this week is that the bridge will cost $353 million instead of $250 (or was it billion?). Unbelievable. And all of it written in RED PEN! Anyway, I'm pulling for you. You go girl! Ginny

It was so good to hear you voice yesterday. Your messages let us know just how open you are to whatever comes up on the Camino. What an inspiration you are to all of us who are reading this blog. No wonder Alison is a roller derby queen! And you get to see her at her first match!

I hope Domenico is there when you get to Santiago. It sounds as if you two were kindred spirits. What a gift you gave him. “And he had tears in his eyes.”

You are a great teacher for me dear sister Mary. I am so grateful for that.

I am so happy you are enjoying walking by yourself. It sounds like you are meeting very interesting people. I am so proud of you! Please don't hurry up your walk or come home early just for the game! I will seriously be on the track for maybe 6 minutes total. It's not worth it. You will have many many opportunities to see more of derby but when are you going to be able to take your time to finish this amazing voyage!! LOVE YOU!!! - Alison
